Wired vs Wireless for Gaming — Which Is Better?
Ethernet wins for gaming — always. But if running a cable isn't possible, here's how to get WiFi as close to wired as possible.

1
Why wired is better
Ethernet gives you consistent low ping, zero packet loss and no interference from neighbours or appliances. A wired connection to the same router will always outperform WiFi in stability.

2
Typical difference in numbers
Wired: 1–5ms local ping, 0% packet loss. WiFi: 5–30ms local ping, occasional packet loss — small numbers that add up in fast-paced games.

Can't run a cable? Use powerline adapters
Powerline adapters send data through your home's electrical wiring. Not as fast as direct Ethernet but far more stable than WiFi. Plug one in near the router, one near your console.

If you must use WiFi
5GHz band, router nearby, QoS enabled, and no downloads running in the background. A WiFi 6 router and adapter significantly close the gap with wired.
