Can My Router See My Incognito Browsing?
Incognito mode does not hide your browsing from the router, your ISP, or your network admin. Here's what it actually does — and doesn't — do.

1
What incognito actually does
Incognito / private browsing stops the browser from saving your history, cookies and form data on your device. That's it.

2
What it doesn't hide
Your traffic still leaves your device over the same network connection. The router sees every domain you visit. Your ISP sees it too. So does any network admin (school, work, parents).

Why the padlock matters more
HTTPS (the padlock icon) encrypts the content of your browsing — the specific pages and what you type. The router sees the domain (e.g. google.com) but not your search terms.

What actually hides traffic from the router
A VPN encrypts all traffic before it leaves your device, so the router only sees that you're connected to a VPN — not which sites you visit.
